How Will I Be Qualified?

The NZTA Level 1 Site Traffic Management Supervisor (STMS1) qualification must be renewed every 3 years in order to retained a current STMS1-Refresher qualification.

This workshop covers the standards and operating procedures required by the NZTA Code of Practice for Temporary Traffic Management (CoPTTM), Edition 4 (Feb 2017) and subsequent additions and amendments. Traffic Management Plan (TMP – CoPTTM section F) preparation and design and site safety auditing are also covered. The attendee/s understanding and calculation of the worksite layout distance table for Level 1 Roads will be beneficial to complete this course level.

Pre-Requisite to attend this course level

Any applicant who has held this Level 1 STMS qualification in the past and it is about to expire but has not expired for more than 12-months, should attend this one-day course to refresh the applicants qualification to a current status.
Any applicant who has held this Level 1 STMS qualification in the past and it has expired for more than 12-months will be required to attend the two-day Level 1 STMS course to renew their qualification and cannot attend the one-day Refresher course date.

What's Included?

All course fees are payable on receipt of invoice (at least 48 hours prior to course date) to secure applicant spot, unless otherwise approved. Use invoice number as reference when making payment online/phone banking.

NZTA Registration fee @ $40.00 + GST
Continuous Tea and Coffee throughout the day

On successful completion, of course each applicant will receive a personalised TMA certificate and temporary wallet ID card, with a photo as proof of qualification. This can be used as proof of qualification until the official NZTA wallet id card and certificate arrives.
On successful completion of course, each applicant will receive a USB flash drive with a copy of the course material and recourse documents covered during the course date

Cancellation / No Show Terms and Condition:
Once your booking has been confirmed, and anything changes, and you cannot attend the course date for any reason, we need to receive a cancellation/replacement notification in writing, 48 hours prior to the course date. or a full charge will apply as per our terms and conditions. Exchanges are dependent on the replacement student meeting the required qualification prerequisites.

What Will I Learn?

This two day course promotes safe working practices, standards and operating procedures at roadwork sites and is required to be held by anyone who carries out work or activities that affect the normal operating conditions of the road reserve (i.e. road, footpath, berm).

This qualification allows the holder to

Install, maintain and remove Temporary Traffic Management (TTM) on Level 1 and Low Volume Roads
Instruct Traffic Controllers to maintain Level 1 and Low Volume worksites on their behalf (conditions apply)
Prepare and Submit Temporary Traffic Management Plans (TMPs)
Check and approve Level 1 Traffic Management Plans (TMPs) (with appropriate authority)
Audit Level 1 and Low Volume Worksites (with appropriate authority)

Following successful completion of this workshop, a student will obtain their Level 1 STMS- Refresher qualification for 3 years (from the date of the course). This course is the pre-requisite for entry requirement for people wanting further training to Level 2/3 Site Traffic Management Supervisor Non-Practicing (STMS1 NP) standard of the Code of Practice for Temporary Traffic Management.

How Will I Learn?

This workshop is facilitated using a purpose built electronic-learning platform. All students are provided full training on the use of the system at the start of the course. Each student views and explores the material using their own personal tablet. This includes the conduct of all theory tests. Students must complete all theory tests and achieve at least 60% in each assessment to complete the course.

PREPARATION FOR COURSE ATTENDANCE:

Handbook Section J pages 3-8 will be beneficial for the attendee to read through prior to attending this course level

Section F is a critical section to successfully complete the STMS1 course. Section F provides all the generic TMP’s and examples.

Worksite Layout Distant Table for Level 1 Road: An understanding of the Worksite Layout Distance Table would be an advantage for attending this level of course.

What Should I Bring?

Electronic device:

Attendees are encouraged to bring their own electronic device to the course (tablet/iPad/laptop) to use during the course. Internet access is not required when using your own electronic-device.

Alternatively, each attendee will be provided with a TM Academy device (Samsung 10.1 Tablet) to use during the course period

Other:

Bring reading spectacles if required.

Casual dress code
A photo of each attendee will be taken at the start of course date to be used for the NZTA ID Card
